Today’s podcast overview/transcript:

Good afternoon and welcome to another episode of Investorideas.com "Potcast" featuring cannabis news, stocks to watch as well as insights from thought leaders and experts.

In today’s podcast InvestorIdeas interviews Pankaj Gogia, CEO of Psychedelic Water, the first legal psychedelic, mood-boosting, hangover-free fun that has recently been featured in Inside Hook, Yahoo!, VICE, Business Insider, Financial Post. According to many testimonials the writer "drank the 'psychedelic water' going viral on TikTok, and I felt my anxiety melt away." Gogia went on to discuss how Psychedelic Water came to be, being a pioneer in the Psychedelic space, as well as how he sees this industry and his company evolving as people’s understanding and comfort level with Psychedelics continues to change.

Discussing the company’s start, Gogia commented, “We launched in the US in early 2021 and since then we have seen massive traction and curiosity. In a period of roughly 10 months we have had over 40,000 customers and over 12 million views on Tik Tok.”

When asked what factors lead to the company’s early success and brand traction Gogia commented, “I think the reality is that we sort of hit a nerve as there is definitely a curiosity around what’s going on with Psychedelics. I think our name, Psychedelic Water, I think that by itself is probably the number one factor. I think second is our packaging and the can. What we have built out there is extremely unique, a holographic can, and was an extremely hard process to get there. I think between those two factors, a lot of our marketing has been very organic to be honest. Consumers love the product and that’s where a lot of our success got started.”

Psychedelic Water works because it is the world's first legal psychedelic blend of kava root, damiana leaf, and green tea leaf extract for an experience like no other. The innovators behind this global psychedelic experience sold out their first production run and are rapidly expanding into retail stores nationwide.

When asked about how the company is looking to expand their product offerings in the future, Gogia went on to say, “As we started to build out this company what we really wanted to do was build a brand. We have trademarks with Psychedelic Water and are looking at getting other trademarks applied to different categories such as Coffee, Tea, Cookies, etc. What you can expect from our company is a stew of products in the upcoming years as we grow with success. In terms of formulation as we looked at coming to market, we saw that a lot of the companies were focussed on Psychedelics in a more traditional sense, more in Pharma and the Scientific side, but nobody was looking from a CPG perspective and that’s where we came up with the concept. What we wanted to do was bring a product to market that was real, so it does have a psychoactive effect, but is legal, so that’s how we landed on our current ingredients. We will be adding other ingredients that could have similar impact but are legal in nature and as and when legalization happens and continues, we will look at adding more products that contain more traditional Psychedelics.”

Gogia continued, “It’s been a real journey for us to normalize Psychedelics into the community. I think we are creating a new curiosity and removing any sort of stigmas associated with Psychedelics by having it become more normal and casual.”

Gogia went on to discuss how some in the Psychedelic community and industry have reacted to the product so far, how he sees the company evolving moving forward as well as the impact psychedelics could have on society as they continue to become more normalized.

Psychedelic Water, which just launched earlier this year, made over $1 million in sales over its first few months. In addition to being available at www.psychedelicwater.com, you can now find it on Amazon and in stores around the country.

Today’s podcast overview/transcript:

Good afternoon and welcome to another episode of Investorideas.com "Potcast" featuring cannabis news, stocks to watch as well as insights from thought leaders and experts.

In today’s podcast Investorideas interviews Becky Postar, the COO of HDCS (Higher-Risk Deposit Compliance Solutions), where we discussed the recent move from JP Morgan to no longer trade in OTC Cannabis stocks, industry banking compliance today and how it is evolving as well as how banking for the cannabis sector is expected to evolve and expand with growing demand and regulatory changes.

Becky is a veteran banking officer of 20 years who has extensive experience in business development, lending, and compliance training for multiple banks. She has deep domain expertise in BSA, AML, KYC and the evolving cannabis regulations.

When asked about HDCS as well as her background in the industry Postar commented, “HDCS is a full-service boutique consulting company.  Our clients are financial institutions that either are banking higher risk industries (primarily cannabis and crypto) or want us to assist with the implantation of a higher-risk compliance program. We are passionate about guiding financial institutions through the processes of implementing a risk-focused compliance banking program, including the beginning steps of research, to implementation and supporting the financial institution through regulatory examinations, and not just depository services but lending as well.”

Postar continued, “I am the COO of HDCS and I am a veteran banker with over 20 years of experience including both community and big banks with experience in internal audit, creating and implementing training programs, commercial credit underwriting and commercial lending. Most recently, I moved into cannabis banking and have become a subject matter expert in the cannabis industry specifically around laws, regulations and legislation.”

When asked about how the recent announcement from JP Morgan has affected HDCS and if there has been any positives or negatives as far as attracting new clients, Becky commented, “Uhm, a little bit of both. This could mean even less FIs are entering the cannabis space but it does solidify why an FI would want to look into hiring a consulting firm like mine. I am zero % surprised by the announcement and here is why: This is a net new industry.  We do not have the long-term data that we have on other industries that spans over decades. Some are saying we are approaching a bubble, not only in the US but another one in Canada, so the timing for the announcement from JPMorgan is not surprising.”

Becky continued discussing some of the larger risks and issues facing the cannabis industry today such as , “Not a lot of large institutions welcome cannabis related businesses and for most CRBs companies they find it difficult to find companies willing to work with CRB and when they do, the pricing is much higher. For example: crop insurance, 401(k) plans and other benefits for their employees, Armored car services and additional expenses on security and competing against the black market.”

The discussion of Federal legislative change continues to hang over the industry, and in regards to realistic expectations Postar commented, “with the changes in the Senate as a result of the last election, I thought we would see banking reform. The SAFE Banking Act of 2021 has bipartisan support to pass, but key Democrats won’t release it to let it have its time on the floor because they are demanding broader reform.  Most Americans support reform, but it is going to take some more work to get key Republicans on board.  And how can we do that?  We could start by passing the research bills that are in Congress and banking reform. Look at alcohol prohibition, change doesn’t happen overnight so we should pass what we can pass while working on broader reform.”

Postar continued, “I mentioned earlier that there will always be a banking shortage for the cannabis industry, and here’s where we sit today according to the FinCEN Marijuana Banking Update date June 30, 2021:  706 financial institutions filed Marijuana Related SARs comprised of 518 Banks and 188 Credit Unions with 202,734 total SARs filed. You compare that to June 30, 2017 with 318 Banks and 50 Credit Unions and 28,651 total SARs filed. It is safe to say less than 700 financial institutions have active cannabis banking programs as some of these over 200,000 filings are “Termination” SARs from financial institutions that do not wish to bank the industry. Me and others in the industry believe this number to be closer to 200 or less.”

Becky went on to discuss some of the current banking compliance issues facing the industry today and how she sees changes on the horizon as well as HDCS’s recent webinars on the cannabis industry and what many clients are looking for guidance on.

Today’s podcast overview/transcript:

Good afternoon and welcome to another episode of Investorideas.com "Potcast" featuring cannabis news, stocks to watch as well as insights from thought leaders and experts.

In today’s podcast Investorideas interviews Luis Merchan, President & CEO of Flora Growth Corp. (NASDAQ: FLGC), where we discussed the recent move by JP Morgan to stop trading on some cannabis stocks and how this impacts the industry, how Flora Growth has developed as an international cannabis company as well as how the industry is expanding internationally.

Luis Merchan, President and CEO of Flora Growth Corp., is a New York & Miami-based executive with over a decade of proven experience in enterprise sales management, corporate strategy, merchandising and expense management, and customer experience. During Luis’ term as Flora CEO, the company has added over 10,000 new investors, went public on the Nasdaq in May 2021, and now organized to support a portfolio of organic cannabis-based products rapidly growing through acquisitions and partnerships.

Flora Growth Corp most recently signed a licensing agreement with luxury goods brand Tonino Lamborghini to sell cannabidiol-infused beverages in North America and Colombia.

The two companies will first launch coffee infused with cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound of cannabis that has found increased use as a relaxative.

"The cannabis market represents a very interesting niche and we intend to offer a different luxury experience," Tonino Lamborghini Chief Executive Officer Ferruccio Lamborghini, whose grandfather founded the supercar brand, said in an email. He added that his company has been in the coffee sector for over 30 years, with a line of premium espresso blends.

Tonino Lamborghini is not affiliated with the carmaker, now a unit of Volkswagen, but run by members of the Lamborghini family.

Merchan discussed some of the company’s other more recent announcements such as the recent acquisition of 100% of Vessel Brand Inc. for aggregate consideration of US$30M, consisting of a combination of cash and the issuance of Flora common shares, their agreement with SHOWFIELDS to feature its two skincare brands, MIND Naturals and Awe (Ô), at its flagship location in South Beach, Miami, as well as through its online store as well as their agreement with with GlossWire to feature its two skincare brands, MIND Naturals, and Awe (Ô), on GlossWire's digital beauty marketplace.

Flora Growth is the operator of one of the largest outdoor cannabis cultivation facilities and Flora leverages natural, cost-effective cultivation practices to supply cannabis derivatives to its diverse business divisions of cosmetics, hemp textiles, and food and beverage.

When asked about Flora’s production coming out of Colombia, Merchan commented, “when you compare North American cannabis cultivators to those of cultivators along the equator, you’re talking about a cost efficiency comparison of about twenty-five times. Colombia has a seasonless geography and an agricultural know-how that has existed for decades. Cannabis is considered a specialty cut flower and in the 1990’s there was a boom in specialty cut flowers South America and Colombia became the number one producer of cut flowers in the world and that is still true today. It is one of the number two exporters of flowers in the world and 70% of all the flowers that come into the U.S. come from Colombia. When you combine these factors, agricultural know-how, geography and cost, you’re able to reach production costs that cannot be compared with North America. At Flora we have reached a production cost of $0.06 per gram for dried flower, compared to over $1.00 from North American counterparts. It’s important to highlight that we are also doing so with the highest standards of quality, GACP certified, observing organic practices which will help us become a global cannabis player in the short term.”

Merchan went on to discuss how he expects this industry to evolve both internationally and domestically in the U.S., how the company’s acquisition of Vessel is expected to strengthen Flora’s growth and development and how specifically Flora has helped separate themselves from some of their competitors.
